Blurry Background

My name is Christopher Birk, and even though I hate naming myself anything, I guess what I am is called an entrepreneur. It really is the best word for someone, who, in my own words, is "all over the place" with interests, has a tendency to start things, learn new skills constantly, and who constantly has new ideas for one thing after another.

I was born in Denmark, moved to the United States in 2007 and to Puerto Rico in 2023. Throughout my life, I have worked in a wide variety of fields, so I wouldn't say I have had any all-encompassing career of sorts. It has more been a lot of interests, where some have stuck around, and some have just been temporary. I guess that's how I see it, at least. Just for fun, let me list my main jobs since my career as a paperboy ended many years ago. I've worked at a gas station, at Burger King, as an "manny", at a call center, I've worked at a house for - I guess what we called "burned out" alcoholics and drug users - all abandoned by friends and family. I have worked as a personal chef, at an institution for the mentally disabled, and on and off, for many years, at cafes and restaurants as both servers and bartenders, and of course as an actor. This was all in Denmark. Then, after moving to the United States, I continued to work in the restaurant industry, leading me to manage a restaurant in Manhattan. Then I moved into film production as well as film editing, along with translator and transcriber, and even worked briefly as a children's YouTube channel singer and storyteller. And then finally, after moving here to Puerto Rico, I have thrown myself into writing, farming, light accounting, animal rescue, and management of the various companies I am a part of. So, it is a fairly wide interest as far as "careers" go, and I am sure I have forgotten a few jobs here and there.

Want to know more? Of course you do!

Adventure and exploring - I guess that has always been my key words in my approach to life. It hasn't always been super productive or fun, and very rarely "safe", but it has given me a lot of insight, opinions, experience and stories to tell, and I honestly can't say I regret any of it. Now that I have (finally) matured a little, I have become a bit more organized and able to focus more intensely on the many interests I've always had, and the many things I always had in the back of my mind that I would "get to" someday. So that's a great thing. Especially the writing - something I have started and stopped a hundred times over the past 20 years, but it never really produced any proper results. Well now that has started and that makes me very happy. Because as I am sure any actual writer, wannabe writer or anyone else who constantly "thinks about" writing knows, it really gets stuck in your head. Especially when you have so many stories you want to tell. You might even write down some of the thoughts. But fleshing them out, so to speak, can be very tricky, and it seemed like, for me anyway, that TIME was what did the trick there.

Faming is in my blood, in a sense. I spent many summers as a kid and as a teenager on my mother's siblings' farms. She has 10 of them and they pretty much all had a farm, so there was enough to see. Even before I spent time there, the ideas of growing things and producing your own food that way, was a fascinating thing to me. Even as a very young child I was out in the garden planting - and, of course, eating!

The same with animals. Now I have finally started an animal rescue. I am actually sort of surprised I didn't do it any sooner but maybe it just wasn't the right time, all the way till now. Some things need to marinate a bit before they happen, I guess.

My various current companies you can find in the tabs here, as well as my writing. But if you are interested in knowing a bit more about what I have done over the years, you can indulge yourself below. Enjoy! And feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you may have.
